Motor Vehicle Registration

How do I renew my registration?

In person, at the Minot Town Office, 329 Woodman Hill Road. You will need:

  1. A current State of Maine Insurance Card
  2. A copy of the old registration (very helpful)
  3. Current odometer reading
  4. Cash, Check, or  Credit/Debit Cards

How do I register a new vehicle?

In person, at the Minot Town Office, 329 Woodman Hill Road . You will need:

  1. A current State of Maine Insurance Card for the new vehicle.
  2. For a Dealer Sale : The Blue copy of the Title Application and the Green Dealers Certificate.
  3. For a Private Sale: The Title signed over (on the back) from the former owner to the new owner, and a Bill of Sale.
  4. To Transfer a Registration from an old vehicle, you must bring the old registration (yellow) and you must no longer own the vehicle for which that registration is valid.
  5. If moving from out of State: you will need your out of state registration and the out of state title or loan documents that show your connection to the car and the financial institution that hold the title.
  6. Current odometer reading.
  7. Cash, Check, or  Credit/Debit Cards.

Hunting and Fishing:

Hunting and Fishing licenses can be obtained at the Town Office.

For a Hunting License, proof of a prior license of a like type or an appropriate Hunter Safety course is required for all hunters 16 years of age and older.

Fees are set by the State and may be paid by Cash, Check, or  Credit/Debit Cards.

ATV's/Snowmobiles

ATV and Snowmobile registrations for Minot residents may be obtained at the Town Office

For a new registration, supply a Bill of Sale or Dealer's Certificate. For a renewal, please supply a prior registration, if possible.

ATV's and Snowmobile registrations expire June 30 of every year.

Tax Collection & Assessing

Property taxes are collected in one payment, are due on January 15 th, and cover the Town's fiscal year which runs February 1 to January 31.

Payments may be made in person or by mail addressed to:

and payable to the "Town of Minot ".

If paying by mail, please enclose the payment stub from the tax bill, or as much information as possible on the account (account #, address, map/lot number, etc.). If requesting a receipt, enclose a self addressed, stamped envelope.

Property Tax information is available at the Town Office.

Assessor Office Hours: Monday: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon.

Tax Year is now: Feb. 1, 2018 thru Dec. 31, 2018

Assessment Date: April 1 st

Tax Rate: $15.0 per thousand dollars of assessed value (2014)

If any property owner wants to file for one of the special programs, such as the Veteran's exemption (over 62 years of age), Homestead Exemption, Blind Exemption, Tree Growth, Farm and Open Space classification, he/she must file prior to April 1 st of that year. All forms and information are available at the Town Office.

Vital Records

Marriage Licenses: To obtain a Marriage license at least one party must be a Minot resident and both parties must appear at the Town Office with photo ID. If there have been any previous marriages, certified copies of the most recent dissolusionment must be supplied. The cost of a Marriage license is $40. The Marriage License is valid for 90 days.

Marriage Certificates: May be obtained by married parties. The fee is $15 for one copy and $6 for each additional copy purchased at the same time.

Birth Certificates: Available at the Town Office for immediate family members only and only if the mother was a resident at the time of birth or the birth occurred in Minot . The fee is $15 for one copy and $6 for each additional copy purchased at the same time.

Death Certificates: May be obtained by immediate family. The fee is $15 for one copy and $6 for each additional copy purchased at the same time.

General Assistance Office Hours

Monday - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Tuesday - 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon

In order to receive GA, people must follow program rules and meet the eligibility conditions. Without complete information about your income and expenses, the administrator cannot determine if you are eligible for assistance.

What to bring with you when you apply:

  • Your most recent bills and/or other proof of expenses including: rent/mortgage, CMP Disconnect notice (if applying for help with power bill), heating fuel, medical expenses; etc.
  • Any verification and proof regarding your household income. This includes everyone who is living at the residence where the GA assistance is being requested.
  • A doctor's statement if you are ill, disabled, or not able to work
  • You can be found not eligible due to lack of information provided and it will be your responsibility to fulfill any requests for information that the administrator needs to completely determine your eligibility within the program.

 

Dog Licenses

All dog renewals must be completed by January 31 of the calendar year. You will need the following information in order to register your dog:

  • State of Maine Rabies certificate
  • Veterinarian's name and phone number
  • Spay or Neuter Certificate (if your dog has been "fixed")
  • Cash, Check, or  Credit/Debit Cards

Dog & Kennel Licensing Fees Chart 

Dog: Male/Female $11.00

Dog: Spay/Neuter $ 6.00

Kennel: 1 - 10 Dogs $42.00

(Each Kennel License is allowed up to 10 dogs)

Replacement License: $ 1.00

Transfer License: $ 1.00

Late Fees: (After Jan. 31 st ) $25.00
