Library Service Update
UPDATE: 04/14/2026
The Board of Selectmen has approved a "Library Choice" Policy and is currently in talks with both Mechanic Falls and Turner Public Libraries. Until those agreements are finalized so that the Town is invoiced directly, you can pay the nonresident fee at those locations and hold on to your receipts to be reimbursed within 90 days of payment.
Please check back mid-May for more information.
An update from out Selectmen Chair Lisa Cesare regarding Minot's agreement with the Auburn Public Library (APL). If you have any questions or input, please reach out to Lisa directly.

During the last 6 months the City of Auburn has been questioning and pressuring the Auburn Library Board of Trustees to raise the amount of money that they have agreed upon with the Town of Minot for Library Services. The amount they were presenting to the Board and to Minot was way more than was reasonable or that I, as a board member and Selectman could support. Even though the library is a separate entity, the City of Auburn provides 80% of the total funding of the library. There was continued pressure that if the agreement was kept as is they would cut additional funding. I resigned from the board as there was no way forward. The board did issue a letter to the Town of Minot that services would not be renewed. Unfortunately, we have residents already finding out their card is expired before we can put together another option. I know that the library is providing a small extension until the Town can create a library choice option. This decision was not necessarily supported by all the leadership of the library and board so your patronage there is still valued. Be patient, we are going to try and work with surrounding libraries to see how we might bridge the gap. Worst case scenario would be for wherever our residents wanted to get a library card they would pay the non-resident fee up front and the town will reimburse that cost. There will be some restrictions, and we need some time to pull together this new policy. We also need to try and determine how to keep the kids programming at MCS in mind, we have not had time to determine how to keep that intact.
