Minot Fire-Rescue Department
The Minot Fire-Rescue Department proudly serves the community with dedication and integrity. Established as part of the municipality in 1999, the department was formed through the historic merger of the Minot First Responders and the West Minot Fire Company, uniting both teams under one mission and one name. This decision was voted in by the people, reflecting the community's trust and commitment to building a stronger, more efficient emergency response service.
Since its unification, Minot Fire-Rescue has continued to grow and evolve, providing high-quality fire protection, emergency medical services, rescue operations, and community safety education to the residents of Minot and the surrounding areas.
As the department continued to progress, the residents once again demonstrated their support in 2024 by voting to approve the hiring of a full-time Fire Chief. This important milestone reflects the community’s ongoing commitment to ensuring reliable, professional, and dedicated emergency services for all who live in, work in, and visit Minot.
In 2025, Chief Corey Nugent, a career firefighter and paramedic with years of dedicated experience in several area departments was appointed to the position of Fire Chief. In accordance with town policy and the Fire Department Ordinance, the Fire Chief is responsible for appointing two Deputy Chiefs, as well as making other officer appointments within the department.
The Chief Officers are tasked with overseeing vehicle and station maintenance, developing training plans, and providing strong leadership to department members under the guidance of the Fire Chief. Together, they ensure the department remains prepared, professional, and committed to the safety and well-being of the Minot community.
